Puente for Android privacy policy
This policy explains what happens to information when you use Puente, the Android app. It applies only to the app; it does not cover this website or external services, which are governed by their own policies.
Data controller
The person responsible for the app is Pablo Vallejo. For privacy-related enquiries, contact him through the project’s GitHub repository:
Microphone use, voice and translations
When you activate the microphone, Puente processes audio on the device itself to infer (recognise) speech and translate it. Audio is processed while the microphone is in use and is not stored by Puente. The app does not send voice or transcripts to the controller, and the controller does not collect this data through the app. No conversation history is stored on the controller’s servers.
Voice inference and translation are processed locally using models available on the device. Once the relevant models have been downloaded, an internet connection is not required for this processing.
Data and settings stored on your device
App settings and downloaded model files remain on your device; the controller does not receive copies. You can manage permissions through Android and remove local data by uninstalling the app, subject to Android’s behaviour and your device settings.
Model downloads and external services
Downloading models requires an internet connection. Downloads are served from Hugging Face and may use that provider’s file-delivery infrastructure. When these requests are made, the provider and network infrastructure may process your IP address and technical connection data (such as request headers) to deliver the files, under their own policies:
https://huggingface.co/privacy
This communication is for downloading models; Puente does not send your audio or transcripts as part of that download. Once the required models are downloaded, voice processing and translation take place locally.
Analytics, payments and advertising
The app does not include analytics or payments. The controller does not use the app to collect personal usage data. This does not describe the Puente website, which is outside the scope of this policy.
Your control and rights
You can stop using the microphone at any time through the app controls or Android permissions, and remove local data by uninstalling the app. To exercise data-protection rights or contact the controller, use the GitHub repository linked above. Avoid including personal or confidential information in public comments. No email contact address is published.
Licences
The AGPL-3.0-only licence applies to the application code, not to AI models. Models may be subject to different licences and terms; consult the information provided for each model.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated if the app or its processing changes. The last-updated date is shown at the top of this page.
